SaferSurf is a product line that has been developed by Nutzwerk based on its real-time data filter technology. The individual products can be used as a separate server on site or as a provider service.

Potential customers are families, companies, administrative bodies, schools and other educational institutions, for example libraries. SaferSurf works directly at the internet provider, like T-Online or AOL. It guarantees confidence and security whenever somebody accesses the internet. The filter works in Germany as well as in Senegal or San Diego, independent of the user's age or religion.

SaferSurf identifies files that could contain viruses in real-time. These files are passed on to an anti-virus program without the users having to install anti-virus software on their computer. Critical contents like extremist sites, swastikas, pornographic pages and even ad banners are recognized and, if desired, blocked from transfer. The data filter prevents any credit card numbers from leaving a private PC. The transfer of big files like videos and music files can be blocked if they might cause a network overload. For example, it is possible to convert a picture of Adolf Hitler into a dove of peace – in real-time. The product line is protected by patent.

Individual SaferSurf Solutions

With SaferSurf Private individuals, freelancers and small companies are protected against viruses and unwanted advertisements. There is no installation of security software required. SaferSurf Private is provided as web service. The SaferSurf server gets the internet contents and eMails on behalf of the user PC. It scans the contents of the data stream and filters out files that contain for example viruses and other data rubbish. An always up-to-date anti-virus software checks the files – while they are still on the SaferSurf server – and eliminates problematic files before they can reach the user PC.

With SaferSurf Business companies will be able to realize their own company policy for the internet access for their employees. Entire networks are protected against viruses and downloading of big files can be prevented. Rule sets can be defined individually for employees, groups and workstations. The online access can be optimized by an anonymous statistical analysis.

With SaferSurf School teachers can safely use the internet in class for their particular subject. The teacher compiles pages from the internet that relate to the subject matter. He or she can be sure that no other content is viewed during the lesson. A gradual extension of allowed internet addresses up to and including free surfing without supervision enables students to learn how to responsibly deal with the internet.
