Press release August 12, 2001 "All Around Carefree Package" for Networks Nutzwerk now offers Internet-Manager in addition to its complete system Internet in-a-box. This software is installed on an existing computer. The computer functions as server and can take up to 200 computers into the internet while supervising all connections. There is no need to install additional software on the connected computers. No need to buy an operating system. Internet-Manager comes with a preconfigured Linux operating system. Just like Internet in-a-box, Internet-Manager enables companies, administrative bodies, schools, and public institutions to set up internet access for up to 200 workstations without profound computer knowledge and at a low cost. After installation on the server, it provides numerous functions like eMail management, firewall, filters, and router functionality. Internet-Manager costs ca. 750 euros and offers the greatest possible internet security. Internet-Manager automatically recognizes the built-in hardware and offers the possibility to use ISDN, xDSL and modem as well as external routers for internet access. A change of access type can even be made during operation. "This will make it even easier for users to connect an entire network to the internet. Many companies are waiting for a T-DSL access to become available – with our system one can use ISDN today and simply switch to DSL tomorrow", says Nutzwerk CEO Ramona Wonneberger. The software supports HTTP, POP, SMTP, DNS, Proxy, firewall, backup, and remote administration. It has a built-in eMail client with address management, and online filters protect the internet access from misuse. As with all Nutzwerk applications, it is operated entirely through the browser and does not require any installation of additional software. However, external eMail programs like the popular Microsoft Outlook can be integrated. If logging onto one address repeatedly, it is loaded faster from the cache. A firewall protects the network from unauthorized access from outside. "Our technology provides companies with an 'all around carefree package' for the internet. We position our product between an ISDN card/ISDN router and a groupware solution like Lotus Notes from IBM. The difference is that you do not have to pay for additional licenses for new users", said CEO René Holzer on the occasion of the start of production.
