Always the same time?

Nutzwerk offers the first menu-driven freeware to automatically adjust Linux time settings.

It is essential for computers in a network to be timed exactly. How else would you know which is the latest version of a document that was sent to you several times? Many security protocols are sent together with the time in order to make sure that no packets were intercepted or changed on the way.

Up to now LINUX users had to set up a time server manually, which required expert knowledge. No LINUX distribution provided a comfortable tool for this task. The time server developed by Nutzwerk continuously synchronizes the internal clock of a Linux server or a workstation with atomic clocks in the internet. The time server is set without manual intervention – this way all PCs in the network always get the exact time.

Nutzwerk's technical director spent hours on configuring the time server for users of Internet in-a-box and Internet-Manager from Nutzwerk manually – over and over again. Finally he used his leisure time to write a menu-driven program that every user can run without LINUX knowledge. When he showed the program to his company, the idea for the timesynchro freeware developed. Why not make the program available to all LINUX users? Everybody can load and use the program for free at http://www.timesynchro.com.

But Nutzwerk even goes one step further. Timesynchro uses a HTML interface to generate the source text for the time server setup online. This way not even the program needs to be loaded. The source text can simply be copied into a file that is executed when booting the computer.

"Why should users need complicated configuration programs that take days to master and only generate a few lines of code?" says René Holzer, CEO of Nutzwerk. It was his idea to provide Timesynchro to all users free of charge.
