NTT/VERIO secures internet

Neutraubling (ots) – Web hoster NTT-Verio, one of the biggest world-wide with half a million sites, has now put up a barrier against viruses, pirate dialers and dangerous contents.

As the IT information service "getfax" reported on Monday, the "all around internet protection" SaferSurf by the Leipzig-based internet technology company Nutzwerk GmbH forms the technical base for a recently agreed comprehensive partnership. The German branch of the Japanese-American company implements the automatic security features of SaferSurf into its offers. According to Jan-Steffen Teske, project manager of NTT/VERIO Germany, the client does not need to install or maintain anything.

The report states that SaferSurf is put in front of the mailboxes of the client. Viruses, dialers and other data rubbish are already eliminated during the loading process. Teske: "Simply brilliant!" The provider has to make sure that the clients can use the internet in a safe way. "Otherwise the clients will go where they get automatic security", says Teske.

NTT/VERIO is the international hosting of the Japanese NTT group, the world's biggest telecommunications company. The company provides web hosting, managed services, e-commerce, virtual private networks and dedicated access in more than 170 countries. It runs a global infrastructure, including tier-1 network. NTT/VERIO is represented by local branches in France, England, Spain and Germany. The real-time data filter SaferSurf has won the innovation prize of Roland Berger Strategy Consultants. Only recently Nutzwerk was in the news when they were the first to defuse a new pirate dialer shortly after it appeared.

Background:
Nutzwerk has been developing base technologies for the internet since 1997. In 1998 René Holzer, founder of Nutzwerk, invented a real-time data filter (patent: DE 199 58 638) that analyzes the contents of data streams. It identifies and eliminates viruses, critical contents and ad banners. There is no installation of an anti-virus program on the user PC necessary.
