Innovation Prize for Biotectid – Company Helps with Rheumatism
City council honored smartest heads of the year 2001

Last night they had the red carpets out in Leipzig: More than 550 guests from industry and politics met at the "Da Capo" to have a party in honor of the winners of the innovation prize 2001. This year the biotech company Biotectid was awarded the prize that the city of Leipzig gave away for the sixth time already.

This year's competition for the innovation prize of Leipzig attracted more clever minds than ever before. 143 companies and individual persons applied for the award at the Business & Innovation Centre (BIC), organizer of this competition for the city of Leipzig. When it started in 1996, "only" 23 participants applied – last year there were 125. At the innovation party in "Rübesams Da Capo" the secret of this year's prize winner was finally revealed: The Leipzig-based biotech company Biotectid GmbH got the prize that was awarded by the jury for the best independent product with world market capability …

Apart from the main prize, there were five special awards this time: Nutzwerk GmbH won the Roland Berger special award for the best value added model New Economy/Old Economy. The IT company, based in Leipzig at Kohlgartenstrasse 13, has managed to develop a technology to improve data security in the internet that can be applicated globally …
