Q How does SaferSurf Speed work?
A SaferSurf Speed is a service that is inserted into your connection to the internet and compresses all requested data. Your internet browser decompresses the data and displays the web pages. With this method you surf up to three times faster, regardless if you connect to the internet via modem or even mobile phone.
Q Which internet browsers support SaferSurf?
A All modern internet browsers decompress requested data. The following browsers are recommended: Internet Explorer version 4.0 or higher, Netscape version 4.0 or higher, Opera version 5.0 or higher, Lynx version 2.8 or higher, Mozilla and Phoenix.
Q Can I use SaferSurf Speed for internet access via my mobile phone?
A Yes. SaferSurf is entered as proxy server into the internet browser. It does not matter which type of internet connection you use.
Q My provider already supports compression. What use is SaferSurf Speed for me?
A There are different types of compression. The compression supported by your provider is probably V.42bis or MNP5 for analogue modems. This method only works at the lowest level. It only compresses very small data packages. SaferSurf Speed on the other hand compresses the entire requested file, which comes up to a compression rate of up to 1:10.
Q I have not experienced a difference in surfing. Have I setup SaferSurf correctly?
A Please check in your Internet Explorer to see if the setup for HTTP 1.1 is active. You will find that under: Menu Extras -> Internet options -> Extended -> Klick here on HTTP 1.1 and HTTP 1.1 over Proxy.
Q I am not experiencing faster downloads with SaferSurf Speed.
A The SaferSurf content filter only compresses data which has not been previously compressed. Zipped-data is already compressed, texts and bitmaps are not. You will experience faster page loads on pages with significant amounts of text on it.
