Before you install Internet-Manager from the Live-CD for testing, set the computer's BIOS to boot from CD-ROM. Then insert the CD-ROM and restart your computer. |

| Step 1: Choosing Test Live-CD | |
You can test Internet-Manager right away without installing it on your hard disk. For this purpose, a RAM disk will be created in the memory to simulate a hard disk. You can use all features without a license until you restart your computer. The RAM disk is created depending on the memory capacity. A minimum size of 48 MB is required. |
Step 2: Setting up your hardware |
Internet-Manager comes with an integrated hardware database. Network cards and ISDN cards are recognized automatically. If you use any unrecognized cards, you can set them up using the YaST system tool. The YaST setup is also done from within the installation program. Note: You should use the YaST system tool only for hardware setup. If you use it to configure domain names, IP number oder DNS settings, it will cause the system to fail. All these settings are made in Internet-Manager directly through the browser. |
Step 3: Defining an IP number |
Internet-Manager has been preconfigured with IP number 192.168.1.1. After the installation, Internet-Manager will be the server for online access, eMail and DNS. If there already exists a network on TCP/IP, please change the IP number accordingly. For examples of how to test Internet-Manager in existing or new-built networks, refer to the main page. |
Step 4: Type of internet access |
Selecting a different online access requires a system restart. This procedure has been chosen for security and stability reasons. In the Live-CD you therefore define the internet access type during the installation process. Please make any provider settings in your browser. If you have installed Internet-Manager on your hard disk, you can set up access type and provider entirely in the browser. The system saves the chosen settings and automatically restarts the computer. |
Step 5: Defining passwords |
You can define system passwords during the installation. For the Live-CD, security demands are rather low. Default system settings: If you change the preset password for root, this password also becomes the login password in the browser. Please make sure to remember the password you entered. |
Step 6: Finishing the installation |
After you have confirmed, the installation is finished. You can choose further help or a view of the current settings from a menu:
IP number server: your input or 192.168.1.1 |
Step 7: Setting up clients in the network |
After you have installed Internet-Manager, you will need at least one PC in the network to be able to work. Here are a few examples for integrating Internet-Manager into a network: Network exists, Internet-Manager to be tested with client computerNetwork exists, existing server to be replaced with Internet-Manager Network to be built from scratch, Internet-Manager as server |
